In and out of sobriety for a long time, I am now over three years sober, a journey that began after completing Carolyn Cowan’s Mastering The Addictive Personality training in 2018. I experienced a powerful change after completing it; it gave me the understanding, tools and extraordinary techniques I needed to finally understand the roots of addiction and anxiety as safety states and from there, the courage to begin putting them down.
In 2020 I completed my Kundalini Global yoga teacher training, and can say wholeheartedly that it has been one of the most beneficial things I have done with my life. Since qualifying to teach Kundalini Global my life has completely changed for the better. I feel stronger in my mind and my body. My stress and anxiety levels have gone down and I’m sober. I now enjoy being me and being sober. I didn’t realise the craziness I was living through and living as. Who would have known that the breath, the stretch, the kundalini yoga can completely relax my stress system?
I'm absolutely fascinated by the altered states we can take ourselves to, where we can have autonomy over our own body. Having a still mind meant I was less likely to act out or become triggered. Your nervous system is adaptive, it can change.
Anxiety, fear and anger are states of contraction within the body, as this is where our feelings are. In my classes we focus on moving these feelings out of the body, stilling the mind and reclaiming our power. This is where the transformation lies!
