Exploring the Anxious and Addictive Mind with Lucy Spragge
The Mount Without, St Michael’s Hill, Bristol
Sunday 29th September 3pm – 6.30pm
Join me for a transformative workshop exploring the anxious and addictive mind
When we are overwhelmed by our feelings or a difficult experience, our stress system engages and we can shift into a state of anxiety, triggering addictive behaviours in an attempt to manage how we feel.
One of the most powerful things we can do to change how we feel is connect to our breath and move our bodies, instead of reaching out for something external to soothe us, like smoking, eating, alcohol, drugs, rage, social media etc (the list goes on).
In this workshop, we will be using lecture, breathwork and yoga.
Exploring how breath and yoga can calm the nervous system, particularly the vagus nerve and contracted states within the body, releasing stress and anxiety, and moving towards expansiveness and freedom.
The key in this process is to recognise that you can change how you feel. Our feelings are not in our heads but in our bodies.
We have autonomy over our bodies, and can work with the tools of yoga and breath to change our physical and emotional state, our hormonal flow, and ultimately how we experience ourselves.
I aim to create a safe and welcoming space. Open to all levels. No experience necessary.
Please note this class is not suitable during pregnancy. Please let me know if you have any medical conditions I may need to know about.
The space will stay open till 7.15 .
